Reunion 30th March 2013

Subtitle:  The Young Ones!  (Read on to find out why.)

For those who couldn't make it this year, on behalf of those who attended, also on behalf of the president of the club, Ms Theresa Lau, we hope that you will make an effort to attend one in the future.

After dieting for the whole year, dying my hair white (I thought white was fashionable) I was quietly confident enough to attend this year's reunion at Kingwood Hotel, Sibu.

The day was fast approaching and I haven't heard from ANY of my friends in Sibu.  Beginning to think I must have got the year wrong, or worse, I have no friends, they were only my imaginary friends ...  So I decided to call Chui Ngik but noone answered the phone.  (Turned out it was her office number, not her home number.  Someone needs to update that contact list!)  Next one I contacted was Dr Wong (Toh Mee).  Thankfully she answered the phone.  Toh Mee kindly offered to pick me up and I was told the theme of the night was 'White & Blue'.  Well, the only 'white and blue dress' that came to mind is our high school uniform.  Some of us did consider wearing that to the reunion.  None could find one that fit, somehow those old uniform were oversized ...

Before I rant on, special thanks to Lee Guek Bee who 'graciously' accepted the president's challenge of finding 9 classmates to attend the night.  She succeeded with flying colours!  She actually brought some old school magazines that night, Chui Ngik was revising the magazines as if she was sitting for an exam that night.  She hasn't changed much.  It turned out that it was a 'test your memory' night.  I am looking to upgrade my memory chips - just keep forgetting to do it.

Do you recognise any of these young ladies?

Now that we are showing our true colours, do you recognise any of us?

Just one more, hopefully you remember one of us after showing you the third time?
The table next to us were some old Sacred Heart boys who graduated in 1969.  They sang the song 'The Young Ones' which we assumed were dedicated to our table.  They do make us feel so young.  Tips Number One:  To look young, sat next to people who looked older than you. This is much easier than dieting, putting on makeup etc.

Theresa Chieng couldn't attend the reunion, so we got hold of her sister Rose - close enough is good enough.  So feel free to get any of your siblings to attend future reunion.

According to Swee Sing (the young looking one in black dress), she hasn't laughed so much in one night.  Wonder who the comedians were ... We did have a good night catching up, trying to recall whom we were  talking to.  For some of us, it has been 30 years. Thanks to Guek Bee, I have been looking for Apo for a very long time (she is the sexy lady in blue on the right), she managed to find Apo the night before the reunion.  I was privileged to be the one to bring Apo to the table.  Yes, it was 'love at first sight', I meant, we recognised each other instantly. We picked up where we left off 30 years ago.  Which reminded me, apology to Dee Dee, I did catch up with her last Nov and I was supposed to upload our photo to the blog.  I didn't forget, my laptop was dead at that time and I have lost the photo.  [Dee Dee, If you happened to read this, (I will understand if you don't!), please email me the photo again.]

Good food, good company and you still hesitate if you should attend future reunion?  I understand you might have some concern as you might sit next to Dr Wong. Have no fear.  Chui Ngik and myself were drinking Chinese tea - trying to behave ourselves in front of the doctor.  Then Toh Mee started drinking coke, so I happily drank my wine (stolen from the next table).

I even met my long lost cousin, who happened to be St E girl as well.  By the way, I am colour-blind, I believe I was wearing blue.

Next year the reunion will be on 5th April.  Hopefully many of you will make an effort to attend.

If you have any photo that you like to share with others, please email me and I will upload it.  All the photo were from Apo - this prove that I don't delete emails without reading.  But I deleted the email after downloading the photos and forgot to save Apo's email. I know, I am an idiot.  Could someone please email this to Apo?

Please forward the link of this blog to others, as I don't have everyone's email.
